چکیده

After a sequence of weeks heavy raining, catastrophic mass movement occurred in the parish Palmeira de Faro, Esposende (N Portugal) on November 23, 2022. The collapsed slope presented maximum height about 21 m and length 45 m. In order to document analyse this case from geotechnical perspective, general survey was devised including use aerial photography, laser scanning conventional topographic methods. results obtained showed that these techniques provide very accurate abundant information is essential support comprehensive documentation features variables slope. mechanisms involved collapse are still under investigation, causes such as excessive rainfall previous months or geologic conditions being considered, although currently existing seems indicate for combination debris flow / rock slide driven event.

Terrestrial Laser Scanning and Digital Photogrammetry Techniques to Monitor Landslide Bodies

Photogrammetry and laser scanning, thanks to significant development in last years, are comparable surveying techniques to generate without object contact and with a precision commensurate with scale Digital Terrain Models (DTMs), a fundamental tool to detect, classify and monitoring landslides. The traditional way to survey the territory for landslide detection purposes is aerial or, in some c...

Integration of Laser Scanning and Photogrammetry

The term “integration” can be defined as the fusion of two separate entities, resulting in a new entity. Integrating laser scanning with photogrammetry allows us to compensate for the individual weaknesses of each method alone, thus providing more accurate modelling, interpretation and classification of the surroundings. Laser scanners produce data that can vary in terms of point density, field...

Laser Scanning and Photogrammetry: 21 Century Metrology

New technologies often turn heads the first time they appear. Laser scanning is one such new technique, which has impressed many users by the ability of point clouds to provide an understanding of complex subjects. Laser scanning holds obvious benefits to architectural recording, however such technology should not be used with blind faith as a solution to all problems. As with all new technolog...

Combining Laser Scanning and Photogrammetry - A Hybrid Approach for Heritage Documentation

High quality 3D models of cultural heritage sites can be generated efficiently by laser scanning, which allows the accurate and dense measurement of surface geometry. In addition to the geometric data collection, texture mapping based on additionally collected digital imagery is particular important for this type of application. This requires a combined processing of range and image data sets. ...
